Why We Wrote this Book
Noise-Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) is at epidemic levels among our youth, with three times as many 2nd graders being diagnosed with hearing loss compared to ten years previously. We wrote this captivating adventure story to help parents and educators teach young children about their precious sense of hearing and provide them with the simple tools they need to enjoy music and healthy hearing for a lifetime.
What Experts Say...
"Having worked with patients with hearing loss for many decades, it is essential to reach young people now so that they can safeguard their precious sense of hearing. “We NEED tools like this that can explain the importance of protecting our children from the dangers of noise exposure and we need it to be understandable at a very young age! As an audiologist and cochlear implant specialist who has spent most of my professional life treating people who have lost their hearing, I am thrilled to see such a wonderful resource aimed at preventing the preventable.”

It’s a book that belongs on every classroom shelf!

“As a pediatric audiologist, teaching children about the importance of protecting one's hearing is a big part of what I do. Young children often arrive to my office with a tablet. Even elementary school-aged kids are using earbuds and headphones daily. ‘HearO Saves the Day’ combines learning about the auditory system with a solid message about ways to protect our hearing. It's a fun yet impactful read that young children will enjoy.”

ABOUT
Ear Peace Foundation
Ear Peace Save Your Hearing Foundation is an educational non-profit organization established in 2010 to address the increasing risk of permanent but preventable hearing damage due to loud sound.
Our mission is to educate young people about (1) the dangers of loud sound and (2) the simple behaviors necessary to protect hearing.
For more than a decade, the Foundation has worked to get hearing safety information into academic curriculums for school-age children (available online and free). HearO Saves the Day! was written to provide families and educators of preK-3rd grade children with actionable information, empowering them to safeguard their children’s hearing beginning in infancy and early childhood.
